Brandon Crawford preserves and provides as Giants beat Brewers

SAN FRANCISCO – There are days when Brandon Crawford creates a lead with his bat. There are days when he preserves a tie with his glove.

Crawford did both against the Milwaukee Brewers in the Giants’ 11-5 victory on a chilly Monday night at AT&T Park.

Crawford hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and followed up with a two-run single in the seventh. The Gold Glove shortstop also contributed a brilliant bit of defensive creativity just when the Brewers were threatening to take the lead in the top of the sixth, whirling after fielding a ground ball and throwing on target to cut down the runner at third base – a play straight out of the Omar Vizquel playbook.
