SAN FRANCISCO _ The Giants reached their high-water mark of the season Friday night in a 6-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, not that manager Bruce Bochy was around to see it.
Bochy was ejected in the second inning after catcher Buster Posey was thrown at twice by Arizona starter and eventual loser Patrick Corbin, a sequence that umpire Quinn Wolcott deemed retaliation for Giants starter Jeff Samardzija hitting Jean Segura to lead off the second inning.
It turned out to be just what the Giants needed to get going after Samardzija fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning before righting himself and pitching into the seventh to improve his record to 9-5 before a crowd of 41.
