Brandon Crawford gets the security he wanted, and Giants are thrilled to lock up "arguably the best shortstop in baseball" through his prime years

SAN FRANCISCO – It was a call that agent Joel Wolfe was excited to make. It was a call Brandon Crawford was too busy to take.

Wolfe received word on Tuesday that Crawford had passed his physical, a final step in certifying a six-year, $75 million agreement to continue his lifelong ambition to play shortstop in a Giants uniform. He called his client to share the happy news. Crawford put him off, saying he was in the middle of his weightlifting routine and couldn’t talk.

“That’s where he was – the weight room,” Wolfe said.
