Boston columnist: Red Sox need to get rid of Pablo Sandoval

Entering Friday, the Boston Red Sox are 42-54.

They have lost eight straight games and are 12 games behind the first-place Yankees in the AL East.

Pablo Sandoval, who spurned the Giants in free agency and signed a 5-year, $95 million deal with Boston, is hitting .260 with seven home runs and 30 RBI.

He has made 12 errors, after committing 11 all last season.

Hanley Ramirez, who signed a 4-year, $88 million deal in free agency, does have 19 home runs. But over his last seven games, he's 3-for-24.

On Wednesday, Boston Herald columnist Steve Buckley wrote a critical article entitled, "Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval must go.
