It’s amazing what can change in a year. Last spring, Dereck Rodríguez was one of the first players sent to the minor league facility. Since then, he was called up, became somewhat of an ace in the Giants rotation and had a season that warranted votes in the Rookie of the Year ballot. He also looks primed to be in the rotation again this year.
Rodríguez threw three and a third innings today with five strike outs, no walks, four hits and three earned runs. After the game, Bruce Bochy all but said Rodríguez would be in the starting rotation when the team breaks camp.
