Bochy plays the hits early, Giants can’t carry a tune at the end of 16-inning marathon

SAN FRANCISCO — When a rock star calls it quits, they go on one last tour and play all of the hits.

Bruce Bochy is a rock star at Oracle Park, and his final six-game tour began on Tuesday with a matchup against the Colorado Rockies.

Bochy’s band of Giants didn’t waste any time hitting the high notes, as the manager’s longest-tenured players –Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner– each homered in the game’s first three innings.

At some point along the way, the Giants stopped humming. Their Tuesday set lasted far longer than anyone expected and by the time San Francisco walked off the field early Wednesday morning, the club couldn’t carry a tune.
