CHICAGO -- The Giants put out an interesting note about Johnny Cueto’s start in Game 1 of the N.L. Division Series on Friday night. Cueto threw just the 15th complete game in postseason history that featured 10 or more strikeouts and three or fewer hits allowed. He also became the first pitcher to lose one of those games.
That’s because a Giants lineup tailored to face left-handed pitching was shut out by Jon Lester and Aroldis Chapman in a 1-0 loss at Wrigley Field. Facing a right-hander in Game 2, the Giants are going back to their regular lineup featuring Denard Span in center field, Joe Panik at second base and six left-handed hitters overall -- including switch-hitting Angel Pagan -- against Cubs righty Kyle Hendricks.
