Bob Brian, an innovative baseball coach who flourished at South San Francisco High School, died at his South City home Sunday from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was 92.
Brian coached varsity baseball at the high school 43 years and won 21 league titles before retiring in 2001 at 75. He coached 51 years overall. A field at Orange Memorial Park was named after him in 1993.
“My dad was the most positive person I knew,” said his son, Bruce, who played high school ball for his father, as did his brother, Brad. “He wouldn’t criticize you unless you didn’t hustle.
