SAN FRANCISCO — Conor Gillaspie celebrated his 30th birthday in glorious fashion Tuesday, delivering a pinch hit that set up the Giants 2-1 extra-inning win over the Cleveland Indians at AT&T Park.
Gillaspie picked up his first hit since July 9, leading off the 10th inning with a double down the right field line off the glove of a diving Edwin Encarnacion while batting in the pitcher’s slot. After Denard Span moved the birthday boy over to third with a bunt single, Eduardo Nunez brought him home with a walk off single to right.
Before Gillaspie and Nunez provided the heroics, Ty Blach gave manager Bruce Bochy exactly what he’s hoping to see from his starting pitching during the Giants current 10-game stretch at AT&T Park.
