SAN DIEGO -- Tyler Beede proved he can strike out Major League hitters. Putting together a complete effort against them apparently must wait for another time, as Sunday's 10-1 loss to the Padres demonstrated.
Making his second Major League start, Beede struck out six in 3 2/3 innings in the series finale against San Diego. However, he also surrendered six hits and was charged with five runs. Christian Villanueva doubled home two runs in the third inning before Jose Pirela and Freddy Galvis drilled consecutive run-scoring hits in the fourth, finishing Beede.
