From “Fear the Beard” to something weird: Former Giants closer Brian Wilson is attempting a baseball comeback as knuckleball pitcher.
The 34-year-old Wilson, who last pitched in the major leagues with the Dodgers in 2014, has been working out in Southern California with an eye toward becoming a starting pitcher who throws just knuckeballs.
“I always said that once my career was over I was coming back as a knuckleballer,” Wilson told Yahoo Sports’ Tim Brown. “I’m good with it. Man, I get to play a game. It’s going to be pretty fun.”
Wilson told Yahoo that’s he’s already shown off his knuckler to two major league teams.
