The Bay Area more or less reopened on June 15, when California belatedly matched relaxed CDC recommendations for fully vaccinated Americans. And over the weekend, the reopening of the Bay Area was quite apparent at Oracle Park, where a packed, booming crowd gathered to watch the three-game series between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's.
For this special Bay Bridge occasion, BART and Muni offered additional postgame transportation options, including limited service 40 minutes after the conclusion of Friday's fireworks show. Some of those service options will remain for the summer, but car-less fans of both teams — especially Giants fans living in Oakland — are nevertheless annoyed with the choice they'll be facing through August: Either (probably) leave nighttime games early, or order an expensive ride hail home.
