Major League Baseball is running out of time.
As owners and the MLB Players Association continue to trade proposals that display a wide gap in how the two parties believe the sport should move forward, pressure provided by the calendar continues to mount.
A sport that theoretically could have played games that counted by July 1 appears as if it will start no sooner than July 10. Even when baseball does return, it remains unclear how many games will be scheduled and if the sport’s highest-paid players will risk their health to “opt in” for a shortened season.
