Gregor Blanco moved from right field to replace Aoki in left and was elevated from eighth to leadoff in the batting order. Justin Maxwell replaced Blanco in right.
Aoki sustained the bruise Saturday when he got hit by the second pitch of the game from Los Angeles' Carlos Frias. Aoki was hitting .317 with two home runs and 19 RBIs in 262 at-bats before the injury.
Blanco's recent return from the disabled list makes Aoki's absence a bit easier on manager Bruce Bochy, but he doesn't give the Giants the same production they get out of Aoki's speed and ability to get on base.
