SAN FRANCISCO — More than a dozen people were removed from AT&T Park Friday night after unveiling several banners around the stadium to protest the killing of animals and the consumption of meat, according to the group behind the protests.
Direct Action Everywhere, a self-described “grassroots animal liberation network,” said in an emailed news release that members of its group had unfurled banners around the stadium bearing messages such as “Ban Meat In Berkeley”, “End Speciesism” and “Animals’ Lives Are Their Right. Killing Them Is Violent And Unjust, No Matter How It’s Done.”
Within moments, the group said, the protesters were removed and the banners, which they had hung during the third inning behind home plate and in the outfield, were taken down.
