Alaska Airlines seals Giants sponsorship deal

SAN FRANCISCO — Alaska Airlines has been selected as the official airline of the San Francisco Giants baseball club, the airline announced Wednesday.

The Giants initiated a partnership in 2008 with Virgin America, an airline that Alaska bought in 2016 in a $2.6 billion deal. The new agreement effectively extends that prior arrangement.

“Our commitment to San Francisco and our Bay Area employees has never been stronger,” said Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines. “We’re thrilled to extend the Giants sponsorship for the next seven years.”

As part of the deal, Alaska Airlines unveiled a design for a new Giants-themed Airbus 321 featuring the Giants logo and team colors, along with a Golden Gate Bridge image, that will begin flying early next year.
