It was impossible for Renel Brooks-Moon not to notice the symmetry this week. Not after all the difficulties the longtime San Francisco Giants public address announcer faced in 2024.
On March 18 of last year, Brooks-Moon was officially ousted from her role with the Giants after 24 years, unceremoniously dumped from baseball just before the season began. But exactly one year later on March 18, 2025, Brooks-Moon was officially back in baseball, announcing player names in a video game.
Brooks-Moon is one of two new public address announcers making in-stadium announcements in “MLB The Show 25,” the league’s only officially licensed video game, which Sony releases annually.
