A (nearly) perfect end to the first half

In recent weeks, a sentiment has been bandied about by writers more talented than I and baseball minds more insightful than mine so many times that you’ve perhaps grown sick of it. I’m going to repeat it anyway, because as anyone who has ever had the flu can attest to, sickness and reality are far from mutually exclusive.

The San Francisco Giants could sit on their hands this month and still possibly receive the greatest influx of talent in the Majors at the trade deadline.

Between now and the July 30 deadline, the Giants are likely to welcome Robbie Ray, a very recent Cy Young winner, into their rotation.
