The Bay Area sports landscape is unique due to the sheer number of teams in such close proximity. But perhaps the most unique thing about it is the support that each local franchise provides to the others.
Case in point: Bruce Bochy's retirement.
San Francisco's manager is headed off into the sunset, and his final games as the Giants skipper have been filled with tributes from other Bay Area teams.
Wednesday was "San Jose Sharks Night" at Oracle Park, and after Sharks winger Evander Kane threw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Giants-Rockies game, he presented Bochy with a going-away present.
