After the San Francisco Giants' 7-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, Chris Haft of MLB.com reported that the Giants had released struggling second baseman Dan Uggla just four games into his time on the roster.
However, Haft has just tweeted out a retraction of that announcement, citing some dissonance with his usually trustworthy sources:
Dan Uggla has NOT been released -- I put too much belief in trusted sources -- and I very much regret the (three-base) error.

Uggla has gone 0-for-11 with six strikeouts and three errors in his four games with the team, sparking speculation that the Giants are continuing to search out a viable replacement at second base via the trade market. The former three-time All-Star is hitting .149 this season in 52 games between the Atlanta Braves and Giants.
In addition, Uggla's power numbers have fallen over a cliff. Despite hitting just .179 last season in Atlanta, Uggla still put up 22 home runs and 55 RBIs in 448 at-bats. In 141 at-bats this year, the 34-year-old middle infielder has just two home runs and 10 RBIs.
All in all, the Giants are likely to look for another second baseman before Thursday's deadline. Whether that will eventually lead to Uggla being released still remains to be seen.
