SF Giants right-handed pitcher Tim Hudson underwent ankle surgery last Friday to remove bone spurs on his right ankle, the team announced to the public this week. Manager Bruce Bochy assured members of the assembled media that the surgery will not take Hudson off track from starting the 2015 MLB season on time.
Per Chris Haft of MLB.com, "Hudson is expected to need eight weeks to recover from the operation performed by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. According to the Giants, Hudson began experiencing discomfort as he increased the intensity of his offseason workouts."

The decision for surgery was more a matter of comfort and less a matter of desperate necessity, says Bruce Bochy.
"It just started nagging at him, so I think he just wants to get it cleaned up," Bochy said.
This will be the second Spring Training in a row where Hudson will face some limitations. He rehabbed a serious injury to the same ankle last spring sustained when covering first base in July of 2013
