The SF Giants checked in with the Miami Marlins in late December about a potential trade for veteran starter Dan Haren, but as of now it's nothing doing.
Per CSN Bay Area, "there is "no active dialogue" between the Giants and Marlins for Haren, according to a FOX Sports report."
Haren was dealt from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Marlins back in early December, but Haren is adamant that he wants to finish his career on the West Coast. In fact, he's informed Miami that he might opt for retirement if they don't meet his trade demand.

A three-time All Star, Haren has compiled a 142-122 record with a 3.77 ERA over a 12-year MLB career - most of which has been played with teams in the west.
At this juncture, it appears the Giants are going with a starting rotation of Madison Bumgarner, Tim Hudson, Matt Cain, Jake Peavy and Tim Lincecum, along with pegging Yusmeiro Petit as the long reliever.
