In this breaking Giants rumors and news update, the San Francisco Giants reportedly reached an agreement with former Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla on Monday morning.

The Braves released Uggla late last week despite being in the middle of year four of a five-year, $62 million deal. His dismal .196/.320/.357 line in 2014 reportedly was enough to force the Braves' hand, costing Atlanta $20 million in dead money to send Uggla onto the open market.
Uggla's production issues in 2014 and sub-par glove could be seen as a risky proposition for a Giants squad in the midst of a tense pennant race in the NL West. However, Uggla will likely come in on a cost-effective deal and could still represent an upgrade over the struggling second base pair of Brandon Hicks and Joe Panik.
Stay tuned to Chat Sports for the latest on Uggla's deal with the Giants as additional information is made available.
