The San Francisco Giants are reportedly interested in veteran free-agent infielder Asdrubal Cabrera, with the possibility of making him Pablo Sandoval's replacement at third base.
Here's CBS Sports' Jon Heyman with the report:
asdrubal cabrera is primarily being considered by teams for 2b, or in #sfgiants case, 3b. popular, but for those positions.

The two-time All-Star posted the worst slash line of his career in 2014 (.241/.307/.387) and provided just a win over replacement in 616 plate appearances between the Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals. However, he's flexible enough to start daily at either second base or shortstop, and may very well have the arm to make a relatively seamless transition to third if the Giants want him for that role.
However, with the Giants reportedly interested in Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels and second baseman Joe Panik being rumored as one of the names the team could package for the dynamic starter, there's also the chance the Giants could tab Cabrera as Panik's replacement in such a scenario.
