SAN FRANCISCO – In a tight 90 minute affair, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team battled it out to a 1-0 win over visiting Montana (1-4-3) on Friday night at Negoesco Stadium.
Mia Villegas scored the Dons (6-3-0) only goal of the night 45 seconds before halftime. It was a defensive battle as neither team attempted many shots. USF ultimately outshot the Grizzlies 10-5. In the second half, the Dons tallied just four shots to Montana's two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Dons had the early momentum with a pair of shots on goal that needed incredible saves by Montana's keeper Claire Howard (1-4-3) to keep ball from finding the back of the net.
