WBB | Youth Steps Up to Carry Dons Past Pilots in WCC Tourney

LAS VEGAS — Freshman point guard Marianna Klavina stepped up Thursday when the Dons needed her most, and fellow rookie Lucija Kostic hit a clutch jumper with 45 seconds left, as the No. 9 seeded San Francisco women's basketball team beat No. 8 seed Portland, 76-69, in the first round of the 2019 University Credit Union West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kostic's 18-foot jump shot with only 45 seconds left turned a two-point game into a four-point advantage for the Dons (7-23, 2-16 WCC) at 71-67 that they would never relinquish.
