Forty five years ago, the Education Amendments of 1972 co-authored by Birch Byah crossed the desk of President Richard Nixon. Inside the large education bill were 37 words that made a difference in the lives of every woman who desired to expand her educational options. And those words made a particular impact on collegiate sports across America – the language of Title IX:

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
