Spartans Squeeze Past Dons in Extras

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Squaring off against the Spartans for the second time this season, the University of San Francisco baseball team (16-16, 5-4 WCC) battled until their final at-bat, but ultimately fell to San Jose State (15-16, 6-6 MW), 4-2, in extra innings at Benedetti Diamond on Tuesday afternoon.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Beginning the ballgame with a jolt, the Spartans got on the board on a solo home run from Robert Hamchuk in the top of the first.
  • With neither side unable to get much going offensively through the next three innings, the Dons evened the contest on an RBI double down the rightfield line from Brandon Greim in the bottom of the fifth, which plated Zach Freeman to knot the game at one.
