SAN FRANCISCO (February 12, 2025) – The University of San Francisco (USF) is proud to announce a series of events, including an annual men's basketball game, to honor and commemorate the achievements and legacy of Bill Russell, who led the Dons to two consecutive national championships 70 years ago, had a storied career in the NBA, and exemplified the ideals of social justice. The inaugural 'Bill Russell Impact Classic' will be played in fall 2025 at the War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on the USF campus, where a posthumous honorary doctorate will be presented to his widow, Mrs.
