SAN FRANCISCO -- Frankie Ferrari had 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting and Nate Renfro scored 12 points to help San Francisco hold on for a 65-63 win over Portland on Thursday night.
Chase Foster added 11 points and Matt McCarthy 10 for USF (14-12, 6-7 West Coast Conference).
Renfro had two dunks and a layup during a 10-0 opening run and the Dons never trailed. Malcolm Porter scored eight points in a 12-5 spurt that pulled the Pilots (10-16, 4-9) within two points with six minutes left in the half before USF took a 28-26 lead into the break.
