San Francisco Athletics Remembers Dana Hendershott

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco Athletics is saddened to announce the passing of Dana Hendershott, a former member of the baseball program and a 1983 USF Athletics Hall of Fame inductee.

Born on October 24, 1949, in Middletown, N.Y., Hendershott attended Santa Cruz High School and later graduated from the University of San Francisco, where he was a pitcher from 1968-71.

Throughout his four-year career on the Hilltop, he accumulated historic numbers on the mound, finishing as the all-time leader in earned-run average, innings pitched, and strikeouts. His 2.20 career ERA also ranks eighth-best all-time in the West Coast Conference while leading the program with 299 strikeouts, one of only seven San Francisco pitchers with at least 200 strikeouts.
