HONOLULU – On a night the three-pointers weren't falling with the same regularity and its two top scorers were held in check, USF still found a way to pave its path to the championship game of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic with a 66-58 win over Illinois State on Friday.
The Dons (10-2) will face San Diego State (7-4) in the title game on Christmas Day beginning at 5:00 p.m. PT. The game will be televise nationally on ESPN2.
USF's second win in Honolulu over Illinois State, a team picked to finish second in the Missouri Valley Conference, couldn't have been more different than the night before, when the Dons used 16 three-pointers to upset Utah, 89-86.
