HAMILTON, Ontario – University of San Francisco men's golfer Matthew Anderson did not make the final cut at the RBC Canadian Open at the Hamilton Golf & Country, but the Dons freshman still had a tremendous showing. Anderson, competing as an amateur finished with an 8-over 147 after 36 holes in his first ever appearance at a PGA Tour event.
The native of Mississauga, Ontario earned the right to compete at the RBC Canadian Open by winning a regional qualifier last month.
He opened the tournament with back-to-back pars. On the teebox on the first tee he told Dons' head coach Jack Kennedy over the phone that he was so nervous he couldn't feel his hands.
