SAN FRANCISCO – USF scored early and held on to preserve the clean sheet in a 1-0 win over UC Davis on Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium. In their first home game since the first week of the season, USF (4-6-0) got a goal from Micaela Mercado in the 6th minute and relied on its defense to help log the Dons' first shutout of the season.
Mercado was able to clean up a rebound in the box when Amanda Whittle's shot off the far post from the left wing deflected back into play.
