Coach Kyle Smith, who coached at Columbia for the past six seasons, has been named head coach at San Francisco.
Athletic director Scott Sidwell made the announcement Wednesday.
Smith, 46, led Columbia to the CollegeInsiders.com Tournament title over UC Irvine in New York City on Tuesday. It was one of the program's best seasons as the Lions went 25-10, with the most victories in a season in school history.
"Kyle Smith brings a wealth of experience from programs that have competed at a very high level," Sidwell said in a statement.
