SAN FRANCISCO – Former University of San Francisco men's basketball player Vincent Boyle passed away over the weekend. Boyle was a member of the legendary NCAA Championship team in 1956.
In his one season for the Dons, Boyle appeared in 10 games in the 1955-56 season for one of the greatest teams in college basketball history. Boyle was 24 and considered the "old man of the team." He had played on USF'S freshman team in 1950 before he was drafted. He honorably served in the navy during the Korean War.
After his service, the six-foot-five center, Boyle returned to USF as a walk-on during the championship run.
