SAN FRANCISCO – How does it feel to set the British steeplechase record after nearly six months without racing? USF alumnus and volunteer assistant Lizze Bird can speak to the feat after demolishing the previous British steeplechase record by over 10 seconds this past weekend.
The former Don sits down with USF Director of Creative Video, Katie Morgan, to discuss her record setting race and more.
Bird goes into detail about her experience of "preparing to be prepared," for anything that might happen this year and leaving the United States in April. She discusses being virtually coached by USF Director of Track and Field Pat McCurry and what it was like to compete in three big races over the course of one week after missing races for 6 straight months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
