MORAGA, Calif. – Continuing its four-game road trip in the East Bay, the University of San Francisco baseball team (17-21, 1-9 WCC) dropped the series opener at Saint Mary's (22-13, 7-3 WCC), falling 7-1 Friday afternoon at Louis Guisto Field.

- Saint Mary's set the tone early as it took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Christian Almanza connected on a two-run home run over the right-field wall.
- After three scoreless frames, the Gaels added to their lead, breaking open the game with a grand slam off the bat of Ryan Pierce, extending the advantage to 6-0.
