SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Returning to the Hilltop following a three-game series in Portland, the University of San Francisco baseball team (20-28) opened a five-game homestand with a victory over San Jose State (19-28) on Tuesday afternoon, besting the Spartans 9-4 at Benedetti Diamond.

- Beginning the ball game, Hunter Dorraugh wasted no time to put San Jose State on the scoreboard with a two-run home run in the first inning, giving the Spartans an early 2-0 lead.
- Quickly evening up the score, San Francisco took advantage of four consecutive walks to score its first run in the bottom of the first, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
