The former girlfriend who accused Reuben Foster of assaulting her has changed her story. Elissa Ennis, who accused the 49ers LB of beating and choking her, now says Foster did not beat her.
Elissa Ennis, Foster's former girlfriend, released a statement through her attorney Stephanie Rickard, saying Foster did not beat her and she can prove it.
“(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her,” Rickard said in a statement. "She was extremely upset and told him if he broke up with her she would ‘trash his career.' Ennis apologizes to everyone that may have been harmed in this case, especially Mr. Foster."
Police have already filed charges against Foster on April 12th after Ennis accused Foster of beating her. Foster was charged with two charges of domestic violence and one felony charge of possession of an assault weapon. Even with the Ennis' recantation, police could still pursue the charges, particularly for the assault weapon possession.
The 49ers had previously said Foster would be cut if the allegation was proven true. This development makes it unlikely the 49ers will do so. However, the NFL could still elect to push for a suspension.
This is a developing story. Refresh for updates.
