San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has been well-regarded as one of the best coaches in the NFL, given his pedigree as a winner, offensive game-planner, and camaraderie with his players.
Through seven seasons as a head coach, Shanahan has accumulated a record of 64-51, reaching the playoffs and the NFC Championship Game four times, while getting to the Super Bowl twice.
However, there has been one accomplishment (outside of a Super Bowl) that has evaded Shanahan during his coaching career: the NFL Coach of the Year Award.
Shanahan has been listed as a finalist on numerous occasions, including this past season, but has never ultimately come home with the memorable distinction.
