The San Francisco 49ers‘ red-zone offense has been one of a few areas of weakness this season, for sure. But at least there’s one positive takeaway from the Niners’ efforts in this area so far in 2018.
Like most of San Francisco’s wide receivers this year, Bourne’s overall stat line hasn’t been overly impressive. He has just five receptions for 65 yards over four games. But more importantly, two of those grabs have gone for touchdowns.
The 49ers have seven passing touchdowns on the season, four of which have come within opponents’ 20-yard lines. If you put the pieces together, it’s looking as if that’s the kind of role head coach Kyle Shanahan envisions for Bourne in 2018.
