Why the Seahawks would be wise to sign Colin Kaepernick

On the second floor of the Seattle Seahawks’ Renton, Wash., complex, they might be discussing the wisdom of signing former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as you read this.

If Seattle does sign him, it would be further proof of the Seahawks’ continued success as a franchise. Teams that maintain success do so because they see potential and talent when other teams don’t. They take calculated risks.

The Seahawks had Kaepernick work out on Wednesday as a potential backup to Russell Wilson. Kaepernick would appear to be a good fit there. The offense is set up for a running quarterback and the Seahawks would be getting a free-agent bargain in him.
