It is a game that will be played solely for pride, the 49ers stopped being relevant in terms of the playoff picture long ago and the Rams are in familiar territory, looking at either a 7-9 or 8-8 finish.
Not only is it the last game of the season it could also very well be the swansong for Jim Tomsula. A growing number of people, such as Tim Kawakami of The San Jose Mercury News, believe Tomsula is likely to be one-and-done as the 49ers head coach and, if that is to be the case, he will want to go out on a high.
