A movement exists to keep rookie running back Mike Davis over the more established but still injured Kendall Hunter. Davis, a fourth-rounder out of South Carolina, is averaging 4.7 yards a carry on 11 totes for 52 yards. Most of that yardage Davis made on his own by breaking tackles, reversing field or squeezing through small cracks in the defense.
When no. 20 is running, he looks like a combination of Garrison Hearst and Frank Gore with his vision and slashing style. However, is he better than Hunter long term?
Most of Davis’ yardage has come against second- and third-team defenses.
