The San Francisco 49ers have undoubtedly built one of the strongest rosters in the NFL, combining a slew of homegrown talent with major acquisitions to become a perennial contender.
That leaves us with one tough, but mild-mannered situation: who will be the team’s captains in 2024?
Last year, the 49ers had six captains: quarterback Brock Purdy, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle, offensive tackle Trent Williams, defensive lineman Arik Armstead, and linebacker Fred Warner.
It was Purdy and Samuel’s first years as a captain, while Williams, Armstead, and Warner had been four-time captains, with Kittle being at the top in his sixth year as a captain.
