SANTA CLARA — Wide receiver Jalen Hurd looks closer to making his 49ers debut, perhaps in their next game on Oct. 7 against the Cleveland Browns.
He encouragingly ran Tuesday on a side field as the undefeated 49ers began their final practice before this weekend’s bye.

Hurd has not practiced or played since the Aug. 19 exhibition at Denver because of a back injury, which the team clarified Monday as a “stress reaction.
