The San Francisco 49ers broke an NFL record on Tuesday without having to put any pads on.
NFL owners approved a new competition committee proposal that would incorporate stats from the All-America Football Conference, or AAFC, into the NFL record books. The league lasted from 1946 to 1949 and included three future NFL teams that joined the league in 1950: the Niners, Baltimore Colts and Cleveland Browns.
Because of this new change, San Francisco has snatched two records away from the present-day Baltimore team. The Ravens set a single-season rushing record as a team in 2019 with 3,296 yards.
