SANTA CLARA — Kyle Shanahan next coaches against the team he sabotaged from a Super Bowl victory.
Oh, perhaps that is a bit strong.
Indeed it is, as testified by Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn. Shanahan was the Falcons offensive coordinator when the 2016 Falcons infamously blew a 28-3 lead and lost to the New England Patriots 34-28 in overtime of Super Bowl LI.
“Any play caller worth his salt, you go back and any game you say, ‘Ah, this one you’d like to have back.’ Let me tell you, he made a lot of really good calls, too,” Quinn said Wednesday on a media conference call.
