Watch 49ers First-round Pick Joshua Garnett Perform Biology Research at Stanford

As you probably know by now, there's more to Joshua Garnett than football.

The Stanford product studied human biology with an emphasis on human health and human performance during his time in Palo Alto.

Last fall, Garnett's class schedule included Spanish III, Physics 25, Human Nutrition and Biology of Stem Cells. That's in addition to being a captain for the Pac-12 champion Cardinal, who went 12-2 and defeated Iowa in the Rose Bowl.

When Garnett's NFL career is over, he plans to become a trauma surgeon in an ER.

"Coming to Stanford really gave us the opportunity to figure out, 'Hey, if we really want to play football at a high level, you have to invest that time,'" Garnett said.
